Getting Started
Business Categories
Why choosing the right subcategory matters
Choosing the right industry category and subcategory is an important part of the EveryFave sign-up process. EveryFave organizes businesses into clear categories so customers can better understand what each business offers and discover it in the most relevant browsing areas. Selecting the most accurate subcategory is important because it helps:
Present your business more clearly to customers by placing it in the category that best matches what you primarily offer.
Improve discovery on EveryFave by helping your business appear in the most relevant browsing and category pages.
Support a better customer browsing experience by keeping category pages more accurate, consistent, and useful.
Reduce confusion during application review by making it easier for EveryFave to understand your business type and evaluate your application efficiently.
Avoid delays or follow-up questions that may happen when a business is placed in a category that does not clearly fit.
This guide explains how EveryFave’s launch categories are structured and how to choose the option that best matches your business. It is designed for the three launch industries currently supported in this guide: Eat & Drink, Grocery, and Retail.
This guide is intended to help with category selection only. Final approval still depends on application review and compliance with EveryFave’s Terms of Use and other platform requirements.
How to choose the right category
Choose the category and subcategory that best match your primary customer-facing business. Focus on what customers mainly come to you for.
Do not choose a category based on a small secondary offer. For example, a restaurant that also sells bottled sauce is still an Eat & Drink business, not a Grocery or Retail business.
If your business offers products or services across more than one area, choose the category that best reflects your main public identity and your main source of customer demand.
Use the included and not-for examples below to help you avoid common mistakes.
If your business does not clearly fit one of the supported launch categories below, it may not be eligible at this stage. EveryFave may expand supported categories over time.
Quick rule of thumb: choose the category that best describes your core offer, not every item you happen to sell.
Eat & Drink
Choose Eat & Drink if your business primarily serves prepared food or non-alcohol focused drinks. This category is for food-led businesses and permitted beverage-led concepts, not alcohol-focused venues or nightlife-led businesses.
Subategory Choose this if your business mainly offers… Usually not this category if… Restaurant General dine-in or food-led restaurants with substantial meal menus. This is the best fit for most full-service restaurants. Food-led businesses that also serve alcohol may still belong here if dining is clearly the main focus. Your business is primarily alcohol-focused or nightlife-focused, rather than food-led, even if food is also available. This may include some businesses described as bars, pubs, taverns, or lounges when alcohol is the main part of the business. Fast Food & Quick Service Counter-service or quick-service food businesses, takeout-led eateries, sandwich shops, burger shops, fried chicken shops, and other limited-service food businesses. Your business is mainly a beverage shop, bakery, convenience store, or grocery-led prepared-food counter. Pizza Pizza restaurants, slice shops, and takeout or delivery pizza businesses where pizza is clearly the main offer. Pizza is only a minor menu item within a broader restaurant concept. Café & Coffee Shop Coffee shops, cafés, espresso bars, and café-style businesses offering coffee, tea, light food, and pastries. Your business is mainly a bar-led café concept or a general restaurant where coffee is secondary. Tea, Juice & Specialty Drinks Bubble tea shops, tea shops, juice bars, smoothie shops, and other specialty non-alcohol drink businesses. Your business mainly relies on alcohol service, supplements, or wellness / detox / medical-style claims. Bakery Bakeries, pastry shops, bread shops, cake shops, and other bakery-led businesses where baked goods are clearly primary. Your business is mainly a café, dessert restaurant, or general restaurant where bakery items are secondary. Food Stands & Kiosks Fixed-location food stands, kiosks, mall or plaza kiosks, permanent market stalls, and other small-format food or non-alcohol beverage businesses operating from a stable, approved location. Your business is a roaming food truck, pop-up vendor, temporary event-only seller, or any mobile concept without a stable approved location. Note: Alcohol-focused venues such as bars, pubs, taverns, cocktail bars, and nightlife-led concepts are not supported in Eat & Drink at launch. Businesses whose names include terms such as “bar” or “pub” may still qualify only if they are clearly food-led and dining is the main public identity.
Grocery
Choose Grocery if your business primarily sells uncooked food products or grocery-type ingredients. This category is for grocery shopping, not prepared-meal-led businesses, convenience-store formats, or general merchandise stores.
Subategory Choose this if your business mainly offers… Usually not this category if… Supermarket Large-format, broad-assortment grocery businesses intended for full grocery shopping across major food categories. Your business is mainly a convenience store, a general merchandise supercenter where grocery is not primary, or a smaller neighborhood-format grocery store. Neighborhood Grocery Store Small- to medium-format grocery businesses serving nearby residents with a more local, curated, or community-relevant assortment. Your business functions as a large full-assortment supermarket, a convenience store, or a specialty store focused on one narrower food domain. Specialty Food Store Food-led specialty grocery businesses such as butcher shops, seafood markets, produce markets, cheese stores, spice stores, organic or natural food shops, and international grocery shops. Your business is mainly prepared-food-led, or its main value is broad weekly grocery shopping rather than specialty assortment. Farmers Market Recurring farmers markets, farm markets, and similar fresh-food market entities centered on raw or minimally processed grocery-type food products. You are a one-off pop-up seller, a prepared-food event vendor, or a business without a stable recurring market identity. Note: Convenience Store is not a launch Grocery subcategory. Prepared-food-led delis, takeout counters, and meal-led businesses should usually be reviewed under Eat & Drink instead of Grocery.
Retail
Choose Retail if your business primarily sells consumer products rather than prepared meals, grocery ingredients, or services. Retail includes a wide range of product-led businesses, but some higher-risk product areas are not supported at launch.
Subategory Choose this if your business mainly offers… Usually not this category if… General Merchandise & Big Box Broad-assortment general retailers whose main customer mission is one-stop shopping across multiple major merchandise departments, such as combinations of grocery, household essentials, home goods, apparel, toys, electronics, seasonal goods, and other general merchandise. Do not use for grocery-first supermarkets where grocery is clearly primary, or for specialist retailers that fit more clearly into an existing Retail subcategory Use this subcategory when no single specialist department clearly represents the business better than its broad multi-category retail identity. Arts, Crafts & Handmade Craft supplies, handmade goods, artisan products, and DIY materials. Your primary business is service-led rather than product-led, or you sell prohibited handmade weapons or adult goods. Automotive Parts & Accessories Auto parts, tires, car-care products, and vehicle accessories sold as retail goods. You mainly operate as a vehicle dealership, financing business, or repair-only service business. Baby & Kids Baby goods, children’s clothing, nursery goods, kids essentials, and related family retail products. You mainly provide childcare services or heavily medical baby products. Beauty & Personal Care Cosmetics, skincare, fragrance, grooming, and hygiene products. Your main business is pharmacy, supplements, med spa, treatment-oriented wellness, or sexual wellness products. Books, Stationery & Gifts Books, stationery, cards, school or office basics, and general gift retail. Your core assortment includes adult novelty goods or other policy-sensitive gift items. Electronics & Mobile Phones, consumer electronics, cameras, lenses, computer accessories, audio gear, and related retail products. Your main business is telecom service, repair-only service, vape devices, or surveillance / spy devices. Fashion & Accessories Clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, watches, and fashion accessories. You mainly offer service-only tailoring, repairs, or restricted product lines. Flowers & Garden Florists, plants, gardening goods, and garden-centre retail. You mainly provide landscaping services or sell hazardous chemical-focused products. Home, Kitchen & Décor Home goods, kitchenware, décor, furniture, light furnishings, and household retail products. Your main business is interior design service, renovation service, or hazardous household chemicals as a core product line. Music, Instruments & Media Musical instruments, records, media, accessories, and related merchandise. Your main business is a rehearsal space, recording service, or adult media. Pet Supplies Pet food, toys, beds, accessories, and grooming supplies sold as products. Your business centers on live animal sales, veterinary services, pet medication, or breeding. Sports & Fitness Supplies Sporting goods, fitness accessories, outdoor recreation gear, and related products. You mainly sell supplements, tactical gear, hunting weapons, or operate primarily as a gym or coaching service. Tools & Home Improvement Hardware, tools, paint, home-repair materials, and consumer improvement goods. You mainly sell fireworks, explosives, hazardous industrial chemicals, weapons, or restricted dangerous items. Toys, Games & Hobbies Toys, board games, hobby kits, collectibles, model goods, and hobby products. Your core assortment includes adult games, realistic weapon replicas, or restricted projectile products. Note: Retail does not include services by default. If your business mainly provides repair, installation, design, coaching, treatment, or other services, it may not belong in one of the Retail launch subcategories even if you also sell some products.

If you are unsure which subcategory to choose
Start with your main customer use case: what would a customer say they come to you for first?
Choose the subcategory that best matches your primary public-facing offer, not a secondary or occasional offer.
Do not force your business into an unrelated category simply to complete sign-up. A mismatch may delay review or lead to rejection.
If your business has both supported and unsupported offerings, approval will depend on which offer is primary and how your business presents itself publicly.
If needed, use your products, services, or programs description during sign-up to explain your main offer clearly.
This guide may be updated as EveryFave expands to additional industries, business types, and supported subcategories.
